A Small Flame

  • Director
    Gülcan Turhan

The gaze of a young girl in her mother’s arms caught my attention while documenting the opening ceremony of Peace Walk in Amsterdam’s Dominicus Church. Around her, young and old from different countries and faiths lit candles from each other, praying and singing hand in hand. In her eyes, I sensed both strength and fragility, a quiet awareness beyond her years. Moved by the moment, I saw in her a reflection of what may still be possible. A reminder of what can still be held together, both near and far. A small flame can endure and still light the way.
