Burned Land documents the 2025 wildfire season in Galicia, one of the most destructive in recent years and a clear expression of the accelerating climate crisis and extreme weather conditions. I was born in Ourense, Galicia, in northwestern Spain. I grew up with the smell of smoke and the sound of firefighting aircraft during the summers. I became a photographer and began documenting wildfires in 2011. This year, record figures have been registered in many regions of the world, confirming a global trend of longer, more intense and more unpredictable fire seasons.
