The Newcastle Ocean Baths, formerly opened in 1913, began as an ambitious project to create safe, mixed-gender swimming in Newcastle. This beloved local landmark features an iconic Art Deco pavilion built in the 1920s. For decades, the baths have provided its city’s residents a space to relax, reflect and belong. This photographic series, is my attempt to capture the daily ritual and deep connection people have with the baths, the ocean and with one another. Ocean Baths, Newcastle, Australia
