Greenland is at the centre of geopolitics. This is because US President Donald Trump wants to annex the Arctic island. As a result, Denmark is now showing greater commitment to the people of Greenland. The Danish Navy is also being deployed for this purpose – even at the national dog sled race in north-west Greenland in March 2026. Two warships, the ‘Knud Rasmussen’ and the ‘Thetis’, transported dogs, sledges and mushers to the competition venue and back. "We have never received such help from Denmark before", emphasised the mushers. And they add with a laugh: "Thanks to Trump!"
