I make a series of portraits in which people gaze at their reflections in a large, convex, wide-angle lens. The moment when they see their own reflection and focus on themselves with increasing intensity, is magical. Time stops, and the portrayed become the tender protagonists of a grand spectacle: a journey into self-discovery. Photography transforms this spectacle into an interactive experience. As we watch them, the portrayed simultaneously reflect back at us. Time stops, nothing else matters. Nothing but you. In some cases, probably for the first time.
