The photographs in my series document the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation policies at U.S. Immigration Court at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan. Throughout 2025 and 2026, men and women—often accompanied by their families and young children—arrived at U.S. Immigration Court for routine, scheduled appointments. Outside the courtrooms, masked federal agents waited in the starkly lit hallways to detain targeted individuals. Parents were separated from their children, and after being held on the building’s tenth floor, they were often quickly transferred out of state.
