Hold Me, Don't Leave Me Alone

This two-year photography project began whilst I was working as a nurse at a clinic in central Italy. The patients, most of whom suffered from neurological or psychiatric conditions, had deeply moving stories behind them; yet their illness seemed to have reduced everything to a hollow present, as if they had always existed in that state. The aim of the project was to rediscover their stories, to restore dignity to their faces and their everyday objects.
