The gypsy pilgrimage to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer (Camargue, France) takes place every year on May 24th and 25th, bringing together thousands of Roma, Sinti, and Manouches people from across Europe to venerate their patron saint, Saint Sara the Black. The highlight is the procession on May 24th, in which the statue of Saint Sara is carried to the sea for a purification ritual, accompanied by music, white horses, and traditional songs.
