During Ome, Japan's matsuri festival, locals wear traditional dress while singing traditional songs, playing flutes, and beating drums. This group of local teens are piled onto a dashi, or float, which is pulled and pushed through the crowded streets by other locals. There are many dashi in the matsuri, but having the most active and lively one is a matter of pride and spirit as shown by these kids.
