The Saqusilí markets take place Thursdays, operating from seven plazas across the town and from small street stalls, everywhere, selling everything from bras to toilet brushes. The markets are deeply rooted in the region’s cultural and economic life; high Andes locals have come to Saqusilí to trade and socialise for more than half a century. They offer a glimpse into the traditional Andean life way of life which is increasingly hard to find as well as the way an Indigenous culture – anchored in tradition – evolves and adapts to an ever-changing world.
