Five years after the military coup in Myanmar, I followed young resistance fighters battling the junta in Tanintharyi region, in the south of the country. Driven underground by a ruthless military regime, a generation—former students and engineers—has taken up arms and lives in the jungle. After years of gains and losses, they continue to bury their dead for a democratic dream they have barely experienced, abandoned by the international community. This report is part of an ongoing remembrance: since 2022, I have documented this young resistance and the human tragedy unfolding in Myanmar.
