Located in Shanghai’s former French Concession, this hundred-year-old neighborhood once held high-end status before deteriorating into a slum-like area amid modern high-rises. Stalled for twenty years by compensation disputes, its relocation finally concluded in 2025. This photo story documents the final phase of a disappearing way of life: families in shared rooms, improvised spaces, and "nail households" clinging to generations of memories. Amid relentless urban transformation, these empty houses and fading graffiti are quiet traces of a lost era.
