Pride, tradition, identity. These three words, in my opinion, best describe the essence of the annual voodoo festival in Benin, as well as the people of Benin themselves. It's worth noting that opinions on voodoo, the official religion of Benin, are mixed. There's no shortage of negative assessments... From my perspective, this religion was an antidote to the hell caused by colonizers and a way to fight for freedom and dignity.
