This mini-series features one of many West African migrants to New York City who work as pedicab drivers in Central Park. The drivers are licenced tour-guides who introduce visitors to the history of the park. They face heavy competition when looking for clients but also work together as a support-group. They are under pressure to support not only themselves, but their family members back home. I took these photos of Issa in the park, in a South Bronx rental room, and during a photoshoot I did for him where he could proudly wear custom clothes made by his cousin in Burkina Faso.
