Seasonal agricultural workers sustain Türkiye’s food system, yet remain largely invisible. Each year, 3 to 5 million travel across the country, with more than two thirds facing limited access to clean water for at least 6 months. In Ankara, thousands live in tent settlements without basic water infrastructure. This crisis leads to dehydration, sanitation problems, disease, and also safety risks particularly for women and children. As water scarcity deepens, it not only threatens their survival, but also the stability of agricultural production and society’s access to food.
