Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine, August–September 2022. Photographed during Ukraine’s counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region, this series documents the aftermath of occupation and the return of Ukrainian forces to towns and villages along the shifting frontline. Destroyed homes, abandoned streets, civilians emerging from months of isolation, and soldiers moving through newly liberated areas reveal the everyday reality of war. Between destruction and relief, the images observe quiet human moments where the battles had only just passed.
