In October 2025, a citizen science expedition in eastern Kyrgyzstan works in high-altitude valleys to document the presence of the snow leopard, a species rarely seen directly. Led by the OSI Panthera program of the European NGO Objectif Sciences International, the mission brings together European volunteers, scientists, and local partners. Through non-invasive methods — transects, camera traps, and the collection of indirect signs — the team monitors wildlife and ecosystem health in community-managed protected areas.
