In many Sub-Saharan countries, people with disabilities face discrimination and often live on the margins of society, with limited access to education, employment and social services. Since 2020, Uganda has enacted one of the world's most progressive laws protecting their rights. It bans discrimination and guarantees inclusive education for children and employment opportunities for adults. This is particularly significant, as the majority of people with disabilities live in developing countries. While challenges remain, Uganda’s steps offer hope for greater inclusion and equality.
